The ideal pH range for swimming pools is 7.2 - 7.6. When the pH increases above 7.6, chlorine becomes less effective, pool water can become cloudy and scale can begin to precipitate onto the pool finish, within pipework and on to heater elements. pH Minus is used to reduce the pH level when it increases above 7.6.
The ideal total alkalinity level for swimming pools is between 80 - 150 mg/l (ppm). When the total alkalinity increases above 150 mg/l (ppm) the pH level becomes difficult to change and a bicarbonate scale build up can occur. As well as lowering pH, pH Miuns can also be used to reduce a high total alkalinity. However, if large reductions to total alkalinity are required, it would be better to use TA Minus instead of pH Minus.
Application Instructions:
- Before applying this product it should be pre-dissolved in a clean plastic container at a maximum rate of 100g of product to 10 litres of fresh water. Stir well to ensure is is fully dissolved. Repeat the application to achieve total dose required - see the label for dose rates.
- After pre-dissolving, add the resulting solution to the pool near the inlets with the filtration system in operation.
- After a minimum of 8 hours, recheck the pH and if it is still above 7.6, keep repeating the treatment until the ideal level is achieved.
Application Instructions for Total Alkilinity Reduction:
- Use the table on the label to calculate the quantity of pH Minus required. If large quantities are needed it is recommended that the total addition should be carried out in stages with at least 24 hours between application. Test total alkalinity between applications and adjust dosage quantities as necessary. If large reductions to total alkalinity are required, it would be better to use TA Minus instead of pH Minus.
- Before applying this product, it should be pre-dissolved in a clean plastic container at a maximum rate of 100g of product to 10 litres of fresh water. Repeat application to achieve total dose required - see the table on the label for the dose rates.
- After pre-dissolving add the resulting solution by dosing it into the deep end of the pool with the filtration system in operation. Take care when dosing to ensure that you don't get splashed.
- After each application, leave the pool for at least 8 hours, then check the pH level and if it is outside the ideal range of 7.2 to 7.6 adjust before the next application.
Always read the label on the container fully before use.
