Chlorine (or chlorine alternatives) always need to be present in your pool water to keep it free from bacteria growth (some strains of which can be hazardous to our health). The chlorine level should be between 1 to 3mg/l (ppm), but our advice is to aim for the 3mg/l (ppm) level so you have a ‘buffer’ to cope with weather and bathing load fluctuations. Chlorine should be dosed frequently as the level changes constantly depending on a number of factors such as the weather, number of people using the pool, how long the pool is used for etc. It is recommended that you also shock dose your pool once a fortnight, or more frequently in hot weather, using Granular Shock Chlorine.
We sell several types of chlorine:
- Micro-Chlor Rapid Dissolving Tablets - designed for small volumes of water
and do not include algaecide/clarifier.
- Stabilised Chlorine Granules - ideal for daily application. They are
rapidly dissolving and will have little effect on the pH. These granules are
included in the chemical kits and are
ideal for above ground pools. They do not contain algaecide/clarifier.
- Super Stabilised Chlorine Granules - the same as the stabilised chlorine
granules but also include clarifier to help keep your water sparkling.
- Floating Multifunctional Chlorine Dispenser (1.5kg) -
this convenient product combines a floating dispenser with chlorine already
inside. It can be used for 8' pools and above.
- 200g Multifunctional Chlorine Tablets - these are specially formulated to
prevent bacteria growth, provide continuous clarification, and are stabilised
against chlorine loss due to sunlight. They also include algacide. They are
generally designed for pools 10,000 gallons+, but can be used for smaller
pools with a floating dispenser.
- 200g Chlorine Tablets and Small Chlorine Tablets - these consist of
chlorine and stabiliser. They do not include algacide or clarifier. They are
generally designed for pools 10,000 gallons+, but can be used for smaller
pools with a floating dispenser.
- Soft and Easy - this offers an alternative to chlorine. It contains active
oxygen for disinfection, and also contains algae prevention and clarifying
ingredients.
- Aquabromine Tablets - these are an alternative to chlorine and keep water
sparkling and clean.
