What Swimming Pool Chemicals Do I Need?

Our swimming pool chemical kits can be used for above ground pools measuring 8ft and over. The kits include chlorine granules, pH Plus and Minus, Super Algaecide and Test Strips. Please see the product page for more details.

If you don't want to buy a whole chemical kit, you may decide just to buy test strips and chlorine to start with. However, bear in mind that if the pH value is too high, then the effectiveness of chlorine is reduced. Scale formation may occur, the water could become cloudy and the capability of the filter might be reduced due to blockage. If the pH value is too low, it is probable that corrosion will occur around the pools fittings. Most importantly, a low pH may lead to skin and eye irritation. Also, if you do not apply algaecide, your pool may be infested with algae and turn green. If your pool does turn green and you have a paper cartridge filter, you will usually need to empty the pool completely and refill using the correct chemicals. Otherwise, your filter cartridge will become blocked.
