Would you like to know how the game of Croquet came about? Historians are unclear exactly where the game of garden Croquet originated, but it is clear that stick and ball games have been played through History. In the Middle Ages a game call ‘Pall Mall’ was played in England and Europe which involved hitting a ball through wide hoops. It seems therefore that garden Croquet developed from this game.

It is believed by some that the modern game of Croquet started in Ireland in 1830 and then spread to England in the 1850’s. It was over the next thirty years that rules were laid down for the game of Croquet.
