This Chemical Kit is ideal for above ground pools. It guides you through the process of looking after your water in three easy steps, and includes a helpful instruction leaflet to show you how to set up and maintain your pool.
The kit includes:
- 1 kg Stabilised Chlorine Granules
- 1 kg pH Plus
- 1.5 kg pH Minus
- 500 ml Super Algaecide
- 3-Way Test Strips - 50 strips to test for total alkalinity, chlorine and pH.
- Step One - Balance the pH level (pH Plus and pH Minus)
- Step Two - Disinfect the Water (Chlorine)
Test the pH level of your pool water using the test strips enclosed. The level should be between 7.2 and 7.6. If the level is above 7.6, apply pH Minus at the rate of 50g per 1000 gallons. If the pH level is above 7.6, apply pH Minus at the rate of 50g per 1000 gallons.
Chlorine needs to be present in your pool water 24-hours a day, 7-days a week to protect the health of those using the pool. Measure the chlorine level in your pool using the test strips and maintain the level between 1 - 3 mg/l (ppm). You should apply stabilised chlorine granules at 50g per 1000 gallons initially, and 9g per 1000 gallons daily afterwards. It is also a good idea to shock dose your pool once a fortnight and more in hot weather with Granular Shock Chlorine. This is available separately (see below).
- Step Three - Prevent Algae (Super Algaecide)
Algae are microscopic forms of plant life that can multiply quickly in pool water, to turn your pool into a pond. To help prevent algae, applications of algaecide are strongly recommended. This concentrated product will kill and prevent algae - it is effective against green, black and mustard strains of algae. Add 23ml per 1000 gallons initially, then 5ml per 1000 gallons weekly. When algae is present the water will appear green - if this is the case see the product label for dosage rates. Please note that if you have a big problem with algae already and have a paper cartridge filter, it will unfortunately often be necessary to empty your pool, scrub the sides to remove any algae residue and refill your pool, treating it with algaecide from the beginning. Otherwise, the algae will clog your filter.
